Professional Cheerleaders Alumni members Amy and Courtney volunteered at the 2013 GLOW RUN in Downtown Jacksonville on March 2. Alumni and current ROAR participated in pre-race festivities and cheered the crowd on at the post-run dance party at Metropolitan Park where awards were given to dance champions.

The 3.1 mile run featured thousands of runners lighting up the night as industrial-strength black lights and strobes lit the way and dance music kept the runners hype. PCA members kept the party going on stage with the DJ throughout the event.

Proceeds of the team requesting PCA for the event, Silverback Enterprises, benefited the not-for-profit organization Family Support Services of North Florida.

Professional Cheerleaders Alumni and our Teen Cheerleaders facilitated a cheer clinic at the Davis Center for Performing Arts, a memorable appearance that we hope to continue to make a tradition. The girls at the afterschool center welcomed us with open arms and were so pleased with the time we spent with them. Their positive energy was contagious and made our job as mentors easy as they learned some cheers, dances, and shared PCA’s Mission “Dreams…Goals…Actions…” with team building games.

Mary Davis, Director of the Davis Center for Performing Arts said about the clinic “Thank you so very much to the Professional Cheerleaders Alumni for coming out and sharing their time and talent with our students. Our students really enjoyed the workshop and we hope that we can one day return the favor. Had it not been for such a great organization, these young ladies would not have had the opportunity to spend time with role models of this caliber and receive such positive messages.”

Special Thanks to Donna Windsor, Cara Cosmato, and Carolyn Cassidey for sharing their time and making a difference in these girls life.

Members of Professional Cheerleaders Alumni, Inc.® Melissa Klipp and Dana Dorell volunteered two days of their time with the Jaguars Foundation’s annual filming of Straight Talk for Teens downtown at the WJCT studio. “This year the show is really putting an emphasis on peer pressure and the positive that can come out of tough situations faced by many teenagers”, says Melissa Klipp.  Guests include ROAR member Samantha Snyder, Jaguars players Derek Cox and Rashad Jennings and also locals such as Jennifer Candelino, DJ Dr Doom, and several students across the first coast from groups like PACE, Apel, The Bridge, and Girls Inc

Marjorie Marquinez of the Jaguars Foundation says: “We sincerely appreciate having the Professional Cheerleaders Alumni, Inc. take part the past few years and for supporting the efforts of the Jaguars Foundation.”

The airing will take place this summer so tune in!

JLG Brain Cancer FoundationOn September 29, 2011, Professional Cheerleaders Alumni, Inc. was involved in the JLG Brain Cancer Foundation’s Food and Wine Event at the TPC Sawgrass Clubhouse. The JLG Brain Cancer Foundation was established in 2010 in honor of Jacquie Lo Goldman who lost a courageous battle with a very aggressive form of brain cancer, GBM. It is our hope that every person who has fought, or continues to fight, brain cancer will lead us closer to “unlocking a cure.”

PCA members who participated were Kim Balazic, Amy Wright, Mindy Crews, Brittany Anthony and Kathleen Binge. The alumni helped out with the Silent Auction, mingled with the celebrity infested crowd and took lots of photos. The event was a huge success with over $50,000 being donated to the Mayo Clinic Brain Cancer Tissue Bank to support their research.

The ladies looked gorgeous in their silver dresses and represented PCA with poise and confidence. Cara Cosmato and La’Farrah Davis from the ROAR and Oche Nwaneri were also in attendance.

Melissa G. and Kristen S. volunteer at Straight Talk 2011

Kristen Smith and Melissa George were able to volunteer a couple hours of  their time on Saturday, May 7th, 2011 to help Mrs. Weaver and the Jaguars Foundation produce their regular TV program called Straight Talk.  PCA is pretty familiar with this program as the Jaguars have been producing it each year and involving several local students around Jacksonville in their studio audience.  Kristen and Melissa had a good time checking all the kids in and then watched some of the taping which had Sam from the current Roar and players Derek Cox and Rashad Jennings acting as the hosts.  The show aired throughout the month of June and continues to do a good job getting the point across to teenagers in our community about teenage pregnancy and other sensitive subjects that are an important mission for the Jaguars Foundation.  It has been great the PCA is able to help out year after year with this beneficial program.
